Yerbol Orynbayev received the degree of Master in Laws at Moscow State University in 1993. He also graduated Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University in North Carolina, USA, in 2002 with the degree of Master of Arts in International Policy Development.
Over the last 15 years he built a distinguished career in the public service; he held senior positions in the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan entrusted with demanding policy making and decision-making duties, including Aide to the President of the Republic on economic policy (2013-2015), Deputy Prime-Minister (2007-2013), Head of Prime-Minister’s Office (2007-2008).
He served on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, on the Board of Trustees of Nazarbayev University and of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and as Governor for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank).
Prior to joining the Government, he worked in the private sector as co-founder of finance, trade and certification companies. Since 2015 he has held senior positions in private financial and policy research companies.
